The number of properties for sale continues to increase, meaning buyers have an increasing amount of choice.
SQM Research has reported that the number of property listings in March:
- Rose month-on-month in every capital city
- Rose year-on-year in every city except Perth
That said, listings numbers “remain well below long-term averages”, according to SQM.
It’s possible numerous potential vendors are holding off selling until prices increase. Ironically, if that’s true, and a flood of new listings hit the market at some point in the future, that would put downward pressure on prices, as higher supply generally means lower demand.
